 MiA represents members’ views directly to UK government departments, regulators, and enforcement bodies. We provide feedback on proposed legislation and raise issues that impact the day-to-day work of implanters.

 We create and maintain a set of professional guidelines that outline how microchipping should be carried out safely, ethically, and in accordance with current legislation. These are based on industry insights, veterinary input, and evolving regulations, helping our members perform their work to the highest standards.

 MiA is developing a structured training and certification pathway to support both new and experienced implanters. Our goal is to provide a recognized and trusted route to competency—covering technical skills, legal obligations, ethical conduct, and proper record-keeping.

 We keep our members up to date with all relevant changes in UK microchipping law—including the Microchipping of Cats and Dogs (England) Regulations 2023, and any guidance from DEFRA, local authorities, or veterinary boards.
